Back in the late 1800's, there was a big problem with law enforcement. The police were no help to people in need, and they often tried to arrest anyone who tried to help the public. This is when Al Capone stepped up to lead an anti-crime movement known as Chicago’s North Side Gang that would eventually take down many of the corrupt police officers.A sequel to wrong turn was released on August 3rd 2017, coincidentally on Capone's birthday. It tells the story of how Jacob, a small town sheriff from nowhere, teamed up with a high school girl named Maddy and her family to take down a corrupt drug cartel operated by "El Patron". When the trailer was released in June its reception was mixed. On one hand, it offered a different approach to the franchise compared to the original film. On the other hand, people were worried about how consistent with the original's storyline and references it would be.The movie was directed by Jon Knautz and starring Jennifer Carpenter, David Zayas, and Gary Busey. The movie received almost no marketing prior to release and a very limited release around a few theaters in March 2017. It was released on DVD on May 16th 2017, but did not have any special features included with it. The movie received a score of 64% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 34 reviews, with an average score of 4.3/10. The site's consensus reads, "Wrong Turn 2: Dead End was a worthy follow-up to a franchise that is best forgotten." On Metacritic the film earned a weighted average score of 31 out of 100 based on 9 critics, considered to be "generally unfavorable". The film opened as the number 2 film behind "Maze Runner: The Death Cure" and grossed $832,735 for its opening weekend. The film is currently available on DVD.
